Flood protection (antibot) works at the network level before joining and repels a flood of bots. Antispam works in chat after joining and filters messages and ads from live players. These are different systems: one protects the server from overload, the other keeps conversation in order.

Antispam, on the other hand, works in the game chat, AFTER joining: it filters messages, ads and commands from live players. In other words, antibot protects the server itself from overload, while antispam keeps conversation in order.
