Ostrov Svobody is a multi-mode Minecraft server featuring a unique in-game currency earning system. Hide and Seek is a team minigame where players split into two roles: hiders and seekers. Using a plugin, the hiders disguise themselves as ordinary blocks or items from the surroundings and try to go unnoticed. Meanwhile the seekers search the map, watching for details: an extra block, an unexpected movement, an item out of place. When a seeker finds a hider, that player is out or becomes a seeker themselves. The round ends when everyone is found or the time runs out — and then those who survived win.
It is a server minigame on plugins (Spigot, Paper, Purpur): they handle the disguises, role counting, the round timer and the maps. Hide and Seek maps are designed specially — full of decorative blocks among which it is easy to get lost. There is a close format called Prop Hunt, which came from other games: it focuses on disguising as specific objects. In Minecraft both names are often used interchangeably. Hide and Seek is valued for fairness and atmosphere: there is no levelling or donation here, only wit and attentiveness decide.
How to play Hide and Seek
The rules of Hide and Seek are intuitive. Roles — players split into hiders and seekers. Disguise — a hider takes the form of a block and picks a hidden spot. Searching — the seekers comb the map and look for inconsistencies. Hiders' tactics — blend into the background, avoid needless movement, choose a logical place for the block. Victory — hiders win if they survive to the end of the round, seekers if they find everyone. Sometimes found players join the seekers' side, and the search speeds up.
Hide and Seek and Prop Hunt: what's the difference
Prop Hunt is a format close to Hide and Seek that came from other games (for example, Garry's Mod). In it a hider disguises as a specific object (a "prop") and can move while keeping that look. Classic Hide and Seek in Minecraft is usually built on disguising as blocks of the environment, with an emphasis on staying still and choosing a spot. In practice these names are often not distinguished in Minecraft — many servers call any such mode simply Hide and Seek.
